Haven’t seen a report for this place on here before, it’s not to be confused with the pub and hotel of similar name in Horley, totally different one. Passed this on our way home today so decided to check it out.
Brief bit of history, can’t pinpoint the date it closed down exactly but the last order books and diary bookings we found in there were dated 2008. Planning was put in to build 9 new homes on the site but it was dismissed at appeal in May 2018. The pub seems to have been on the site for many years as the first photo shows.
The explore itself was quiet, although trying to scale the fence so close to a busy main road we impossible to do undetected so we just jumped it and hoped for the best!
Inside is pretty trashed, a lot of natural decay and the usual vandalism we see in so many locations. Was still worth doing though as it’s the first pub we have explored.
