I went on this explore with fellow member , on our way back down south we stopped by Pool Parc too and we weren't prepared for how grand the decay was. I'll upload a separate report for Pool Parc in a bit.

Massive thanks to @Lancashire lad for all the help and advice!

I shan't write the history as I'm sure you've all read the same wikipedia extract a hundred times already! :p

Recent Update
One thing we did find at Denbigh was there has been a CPO (Compulsory Purchase Order) put in place upon the building. After talking to some of the locals in Denbigh Town; The owners apparently appealed, and promptly failed meaning its gone ahead and confirmed for some £900,000 worth of renovation work just to the main building alone. The larger block to the far east of the site has already had several sets of steel cross beams across all 3 floors, they appear relatively new. I wouldn't be surprised if in a few months or less the site becomes total lock down.

The Explore
We travelled up from the south of Buckinghamshire, left at 5:30am and reached Denbigh for just past 9am. We parked up and made our way in - First up the chapel, pretty much left intact. We made our way down into the site through the Morgue, I was surprised at how small the morgue was, expecting there to be at least 18 "beds" in the cold chamber, in fact there were only 4 in one fridge. As we went on through we came across this breathtaking view of the rest of the asylum. Just beyond a few trees you could see the chimneys, grain store and amongst a tad of mist, the clock tower of the main building.

The buildings themselves were amazing. Even after such dereliction they stood proud and prominent - a testament to Victorian engineering. As we made our way through a maze of corridors, wards, office blocks we could see the extent of the damage. I love the look of Nature effectively reclaiming what once belonged and peeling paint, which we found a lot of here. In nearly all of the buildings we managed to get up to the top floor to look around, some amazing views! Now for one of the most interesting bits:

The Service Tunnels

After a lot of walking around, we actually stumbled upon one of the entrances to the Service Tunnels. After knowing what we'd stumbled upon we suited up, respirator masks on and went in. It was so dark! There was also tonnes of Silver Hair Asbestos (Pictured to the right of the walls) - one of the worst kinds around. We were under there for a good 25-30minutes. Occasionally there was daylight which we checked out, and we were in completely different parts of the hospital. Whilst under there, we found this underground storage cupboard, service lift shaft, floor polisher, shelving, the pictures don't do it justice as to how vast it was. I could actually stand up! And I'm 6ft 5!

Eventually after crawling, and occasionally standing, we made it out at some point in a teeny tiny courtyard right in the middle of the complex. It turns out we went in near the front, underneath the main building, then all the way to the back of the site, then to the middle, and then to the main hall and came out there. After that we made our way to Pool Parc...

Hope you like the pictures, I'm not a great photographer!

No there isn't

Apparently so, because of the compulsory purchase order. It's going under massive renovation and I'm guessing quite a lot demolished. According to a local that is anyway. Not really much there to protect anymore haha

Has been in the local papers about that mate, I'll try and find the article and that DenbighVids bloke was talking about it recently..

The council own it now don't they so they are funding security on it, the police officer assigned wont necessarily be at the site but its just a single point of contact for liaison for the security firm.

They had an exhibition over the weekend in the local museum and apparently the council are well aware of the amount of people going in and are probably nervous of someone injuring themselves on their property now.. not 100% sure that's the reason behind them adding security etc but that's what I heard recently.

You mean my taxes are going to be spent keeping goons out of this fetid shit hole... Fantastic.
I say let them wonder around the shithole keeps the pricks away from the good explores!
Also if they injure themselves etc I just see it as natural selection...

Elwynn will gone when the council own it I expect The whole reason he's aggressive - even to the council who've tried tirelessly to save the place - is because he has grazing and hunting rights alongside being the keyholder. Once the council own the land, that no longer applies.

He actively attacked a BBC cameraman when the council were doing a documentary on the CPO a few years ago.

Must admit I didn't know the compulsary purchase order had been completed though. I thought it was still ongoing. Security or not, it'll still be doable if you are careful as you can bet they won't be allowed inside a lot of the buildings given the current state.

Edit: seems the appeal against the CPO was binned, so things can move forward but technically they haven't purchased it just yet - http://www.dailypost.co.uk/news/north-wales-news/appeal-against-forced-sale-historic-10173127
