it appears that this was an air raid shelter constructed for the nearby Mill workers.
Much of it has been backfilled and sealed over the years.
Constructed of blast proof concrete this underground network of tunnels was quite substantial and would have originally been home to a 200 people during the blitz.
Was an easy find but not looking like its going to be there much longer and also a little wet in places ....lots of local scum art and only 1 way in and 1 way out....... Thanks 4 looking
