When I was younger I'd heard many times of a network of tunnels underneath Wigan park but had never managed to find them so always though they were urban myth. A year or so ago though a lad who I was doing some UE stuff with at the time told me he'd been down the tunnels as a kid.
We went back to the site and the original entrance he'd been down had long been blocked up by a steel grid that proved impossible to remove. We scouted the site out though and after a bit of digging, bingo we'd found another way in.
We've mapped out all the presently accessible network but there are plenty of tunnels that lead off in different directions that have been blocked by tons of soil. We've had a few days down there digging but not managed to shift nowhere near enough of it yet. Here's a few of the pictures.
