Its named Farnley beck between the source & Stonebridge Lane,
then becomes Wortley beck until it merges with the Milshaw beck in Gelderd Road culvert.
The both of them then continue as Hol beck merging with the Aire at Granary Wharf,
The beck enters farnley reservoir circa 1973 at Butt Lane & exits at Tong Road,
the reservoir being built as a way to ease flooding.
With a length of 6 miles? between source Pudsey & the Aire, consisting of 5 culverts.

the beck enters reservoir via retaining walls

In the 14th pic down, Gelderd Road Culvert, I see what looks like something to measure flow and relay/transmit the data from the mast up top, is leeds as likely to flood as bradford?

Good report.

Cheers,
pb

The EA has gauging stations on lot of watercourses that they are responsible for. The data collected can be used in a number of ways. From mere data collection through to activating remote flood defences. Any watercourse is liable to flood.

Looks like a good candidate for some dinghy action, great report!

on my 2nd last photograph I had to prod the tripod on each step as its drops to the abyss of the Aire by the mouth,
accessing this side definitely requires a dinghy.

Some interesting bits :thumb
Not sure on 40 pics though

I prefer doing the whole waterway, rather than 1 or 2 culverts along the way
saying that the concrete bits get boring esp 2 miles of it.

its on a par with my email, stranton was used so I chose stranton x instead
its letters & nothing to do with kisses. :thumb
