First heard about these forerunners to radar on Coast a couple years ago and after Reading Penguin's Report on the one in Redcar I realised there's one near me in Sunderland - I assumed they were just on the south coast.
As you'll see from the pictures the Sunderland one is badly overgrown with nettles and stuff so its hard to get a good look. Theres a picture without the weeds and some history here.
Here's some pics I took while there, sun in the wrong place and sooo many nettles made it tricky.
