First time exploring and found this abandoned roof tile factory that sits just to the North of the River Derwen on the hillside above Ebchester, County Durham.
It was previously owned by Marley Roof Tiles and we found some paperwork dated from 2015 but don’t know when it ceased operations as there’s not much information to be found on the internet.

Hi,

Welcome to 28. There are no photos in the report along with a date in the title of the report. You should have a read through the following threads to get a grasp on how things work and see if you can amend anything. If you have no photos, I assume that this thread will be moved section which is then fine :)

Visited here this morning, seems like there has been more vandalism and graffiti, but still a good explore! Found some paper work too which was cool..

There is also a man who patrols this area (he worked here before it closed down) he said he checks on it often. We got caught going in there but told him we lost a dog .. so yeah be careful as it still has people checking there is nobody exploring etc.

I came across that guy a few years ago on one of his rounds started off shouting very angry but he soon calmed down once he realised i was no threat we had a civilised conversation eventually. That paperwork you found was actually dated 2005, the place has been closed since 1998 though it probably was in use as a means of clearing remaining stock etc for a number of years it was certainly derelict by 2009.

Went here yesterday and got told to leave within about 20 minutes, not by the security guard others have mentioned but 2 young looking lads that apparently had a key to the gate. I assume theres some kind of sensor or something been setup.

Not a clue as it's as derelict as everyone elses pics make out. There is new looking signage up on the gates saying CCTV in operation (didnt see any cameras though!) so maybe the lands been sold and being redeveloped? It would be about time..
