Hi all so the other weekend we took my new camera out for a spin, still got a lot to learn on it, but any way we headed over too Bärenquell brauerei. As we got of the train and headed towards our explore there where 2 police vans parked up and for a sec we thought this is not going to happen but as we got closer, of they went (thanks)
so getting in is so so easy and when you think Germany you think engineering ?
well its laughable how we got in ...
the site has not one window left and some times you are just walking on nothing but broken glass but still a lot of stuff to see including going underground and in the roof where the air condition units can be found all very safe etc etc
dont be surprised to bump into peeps doing the same as you or kids still managing to smash something or graff artists and even couples naked sunbathing on the roof !
History: (wiki)
The complex on fast road was built as the Max Meinert and Kampfhenkel Borussia brewery founded in 1882.
In 1898 the brewery was acquired as the Borussia- Schultheiss Brewery AG, who continued the brewery location as major Division and then extended. It was in addition to the narrow area between the River Spree and former Berliner Straße (today Schnellerstraße) acquired another property in a northwest direction. The abandonment of the site in the mayor composite was the supply of the Berlin hinterland. 1949 was renamed Schultheiss Brewery Niederschöneweide, 1954 finally Niederschöneweide VEB Schultheiss Brewery. Due to a magistrate -decision in March 1959, the six East Berlin breweries as legal entities with effect from 1 April 1959 resolved.
The production facility Niederschöneweide got new name Bärenquell brauerei or Bears brewery.
When the Bärenquell Brauerei closed its doors for the last time on April 1st, 1994, it marked the end of a brewery 112 years old. After the war, it came under state control like pretty much everything else did. It was renamed the VEB Bärenquell. (VEB stands for Volkseigener Betrieb, people-owned enterprise but as we no the people had nothing to do with it).
