Clayton Hospital is named after Thomas Clayton, mayor of Wakefield (1854)
opened in 1876, while the new building opened in 1879
with a capacity of 200
closed in 2012.
The buildings are dire because of chavas and pikies,
no furnishings or fittings remain.

visited twice once with Catbalou and Sed, once alone

was always open to be honest, it was just a case of looking other than 'straight ahead'. ;)

Lovely building on outside, shame about it being stripped completely inside.
You did well, Strant to get the photos you did, I didn't even bother getting a cam out on the second visit, was happier sunbathing on the roof. Did you get any shots of the basement / service tunnels? I think I got one or two, but that was about it.

none

they must of had some trouble getting that tank in the tower,
its bloody huge.

yeah I know.

i'll see if I can dig out any shots of the basement/tunnels and attach them here, if that ok. (and if the photos arnt too naff.... I thnk I took 5 pics the entire time I was there on both visits!)
Best part about that place was the peace n quiet on the roof

MMMM Nice pics :thumb

Always had better operations here than Pinders lol

Didn"t think it"d be so popular TBH

I suppose if i can drive round the Country for stuff i ought to have paid my local a visit really :)

Saying that called round earlier and couldn"t move for Contractors boarding up one side of the Hospital. Maybe avid 28 readers :)
