Depressing care homes aren't my usual deal, although I've inexplicably found myself in more than a few across the years. Dannah House in Wroughton, near Swindon, was unquestionably the best one of the depressing bunch though - set in your typical 1960s care home building that are usually so full of despair, the first half of the building was a fetid ruined mess however the furthest areas away from the access point were almost totally untouched and had some amazing decay - I took one of my favourite photos I've ever taken in here, which was somewhat unexpected to say the least.
It was built, as mentioned above, in the late 1960s or early 1970s complete with 25 bedrooms and specialised in caring for elderly residents with dementia. Like so many care homes of a similar vintage it was forced to close in 2008 when new guidelines were brought in requiring all care homes to have en suite bedrooms, many weren't able to easily adapt so ended up closing their doors.
The building still contained pretty much everything, in the first half it was quite messy but the rooms got tidier and tidier the futher away from the access point - and the nearer to the very very close neighbouring property - you got.
I believe it to still be in existance however it is unsurprisingly in a much worse state!
