Been spending a lot of time at Bradford recently, so thought I'd do this while here.

Flood Alleviation culverts, Bradford, by stranton

opened in 1992, for the Bradford beck (Bypass) & west brook (Pandora)
carries excess water away from the city during bad conditions.

Bypass
running from Thornton road to Rainbow junction,
length of 1 mile.
During normal conditions the beck passes through a slot on the left,
once levels reach abnormal the excess water diverts along the culvert on the right.

Thank you very much Stranton for your report, and the first pic. The first pic in particular has been the one to help clarify this system for me, well done for cutting to the chase!

100% concrete jungle, with few interesting features.

True, but makes a nice change from either brick or just concrete culvert in the northern town I grew up in. I like these more modern systems. Is that outfall to the beck on a slope/decline (looks like it?), and then turn sharply to the exit?
