I visited in October 2018 but only now been able to post. While looking around I bumped into the police as I was coming out. They where nice and let me finish looking around. The tunnels are regularly used by drug users so the police walk through most of the time.
3 main areas to this site. There are the tunnels outside in the woods easily accessible. Originally the tunnels joined with the main fort but they are now blocked off. These are still pretty cool and worth a look even if you cannot get into main fort.
The main fort which have two gorgeous spiral stairs over 4 levels.
And then the main area inside the fort walls which has council buildings and office spaces. The electric still worked in these buildings.

Fort Austin is a mid to late 19th Century fort and battery. Construction began about 1863 amid fears of French invasion. The site was used in World War 2 by the Devon and Cornwall Auxiliary Unit and in 1984 the guardhouse was converted to the Plymouth City Emergency Centre for Cival Defence.
