The forth and final GKN site, finally hit on the head by myself and Raddog. We had our eye on this one for a very long time, and then out of nowhere demolition started, and was very swift at that!!
We were about a month too late we think, as already many of the fixtures and fittings are removed. There were still some nice things to find. Te darkroom was the highlight, untouched for many many years. But I have loved every GKN site we have visited, as they were all heavily in the style of the 1950s and 60's. The company was in with the fashions of the time in a big way.
Much of the works at the back of the offices has already been flattened, and the offices will follow in the coming weeks.

If you were high up in GKN, you got a fabulous office. These were for the company directors, and are spacious with floor to ceiling glass.
