Opened in 1951 Glan-y-mor primary school was one of the first new schools built to cater for the rapidly expanding Sandfields Estate in Port Talbot. The Construction - mainly of prefabricated steel has long passed its expected lifetime and was the first local schools to be targeted in the schools improvement programme. Falling numbers of pupils (less then 10 pupils in the last year 6 class) had made it necessary to merge the school with another nearby in a new build. The school closed in July 2013 and has since been demolished.

I was kindly allowed access to the school a few weeks before closure to photograph the entire interior - a selection of which I've posted here. There were a few surprises, having not been a pupil myself - including a projection room!
