RAF Marsworth - buckinghamshire - Jan 2011

Me and eddbmxdude went to a couple of places today. We had both realised that Marsworth wasn't on here and we thought it necessary to get some exploring done.

After doing a little digging, I found that in 1917 it was briefly used as an aerodrome during WW1.
It re-opened in 1942 as a satellite station to RAF Wing. Shortly after being re-opened it was then transferred to the US air force which flew B-25s and B-24s out.
Then in 1944 a special unit took charge which handled operations like night leaflet drops over occupied europe.
The airfield was shut in 1952 where judging by the condition of alot of the buildings that remained were turned into cattle sheds and such.

In this picture, you can just see the tip of the 'firing range' over on the far right.
