A listed pub https://britishlistedbuildings.co.uk/101257325-seaforth-arms-hotel-linacre-ward built in the Edwardian Baroque style common to a lot buildings of that era in Liverpool.

A shopkeeper opposite said it had closed several years ago. This was one I had been checking occasionally, probably for about 18 months, until one day a trail of debris and bent tools indicated that the inevitable had occurred.

At that stage whoever broke in hadn’t wrecked the place - just rifled through drawers and cupboards.

Asking around, another local told me he had informed the council, several times, of the break-in but they did nothing, and for the next month the building remained wide open, with a fire on the first floor.

I haven’t been back inside but the last time I was passing I noticed it had finally been secured - I hope there hasn’t been too much damage since it is/was above average for a pub.

Rather pink because of the sun shining through red curtains.

I should have looked at this more closely, but it seems like the turret has an extendable flagpole.

Amazing, what a place! Quite sad it seems to have survived quite intact and now sits derelict. Any chance of it re-opening?

Note the same roundal in the window as at the Royal Castle.

Extendable flagpole...? Yes, you certainly should have had a closer look!!

Don't see why not - there was some evidence of renovation going on - filler etc. - and while the fire and rescue service had evidently attended the fire, judging by the red tape, it doesn't seem to have been too serious.

The heritage officer for Sefton Council probably knows.
