Rather than post another Longy thread (I mean the place has done the rounds) I thought I should add a thread of the finest Power Stations North of the Border over the last decade. I re-edited a lot of them to make them a bit better as god knows what I was thinking back when I took them. This may take two/three posts as 6 photos per place isnt enough :p

Ten years of fun, you'll find the following places below.
Inverkip Power Station
Methil Power Station
Cockenzie Power Station
Castlebridge Colliery (where a lot of the Longannet coal came from)
Longannet Power Station

Sorry Brown and Mason (BAM) - Scottish Powers demolition contractor of choice - but we do love to beat you every time :p (you do a cracking job though)

OK then, lets begin:

Inverkip Generating Station - aka King Dong. For years, the tallest freestanding structure in Scotland. Its chimney reaching 778ft, and the view from the top - was amazing. Sadly, I wasn't too enamored by Power Stations in these early days. So many visits, so few photos. :(

28/7/13 the chimney finally fell and the torch was passed to Longannet Chimney - we'll get to that later :D

Next Up

Methil Generating Station

This was a curious one - so many people failed here. SO many attempts, so many fails. We pitched up at the end opf a long slog one day, and pretty much marched straight in. Oh Well!

Next we have

Cockenzie Generating Station

Oddly secure, the security here was bizarrely tough. We were a bit too late with this and sadly only one Turbine Hall photo with it intact. Thanks to my friend who made it that night when I didnt.

External - again sadly we never got the chimneys - no bad thing as we are certain it was a ladder up the outside

Next up

Castlebridge Colliery - a lot of coal for Scottish Power came from this mine - connected to Longannet before a dam inside burst and flooded the mine.

Finally we get to the grand finale. The second largest Power Station in the UK. And for now until around mid 2020, the tallest freestanding structure in Scotland.

Fantastic report, and stunning shots, loving the lighting, what a gem of a report. Spot on. B&M do a good job, but I hate seeing these stations destroyed, I`m so pleased that the people of Dartford are fighting to save the Littlebrook chimney.

Absolutely delicious! Lot's of effort here, well worth every last drip of sweat that must have gone into it. And.... Cockenzie!! I'm drooling.
