History
Not found much history on this place and it's already been covered twice recently by @mookster and @MotionlessMike so not really much more we can add.
Compstall Mills was a cotton mill complex built in the 1820's by George Andrew and stands at the side of Etherow Country Park where the millpond still sits but is now used for recreation. Compstall village was also built by George Andrew to house his 800 mill workers. The mill closed down in 1966 and has since been used to house multiple businesses that have now ceased to occupy the buildings.
The Explore
We decided to go and take a look at this as it seemed like a pretty big site and we do quite like a mooch around a big old mill, there was a lot to see, mainly junk left behind from the previous occupants of the businesses and in parts it felt a bit like a maze. There is a funeral directors business tucked away in one section although we didn't bother including shots of it as they weren't great and there's not much to see. The access onto the grounds was easy and had no trouble accessing any of the buildings on site. All in all it was a decent explore with the only disappointment being that many of the original big mill floors are all sectioned off into small rooms.
Thanks for looking!
